Wind gust was measured via a WeatherFlow site in the Roanoke Sound as thunderstorms were moving overhead.

Scattered thunderstorms developed across the Piedmont during the afternoon of the twenty-seventh along and out ahead of an approaching surface trough. As storms moved north and east they quickly strengthened becoming strong to severe in nature impacting the inland waters from the Neuse River north into the Albemarle Sound and Coastal waters north of Oregon Inlet.
