Wider weather episode

A large upper ridge pushed inland into California on June 4 and strengthened further as it shifted into the Great Basin on June 5 and 6. This resulted in the first significant heat wave of the season across the interior of central California between June 5 and June 7. Temperatures cooled off across the area on June 8 although remaining above normal as a cold front crossed the region.
