The ASOS in Hill City reported two gusts over 60 MPH during the day and a WeatherLink site reported an additional gust of 60 MPH. Impacts were high winds causing hazardous driving conditions.

The wider storm

A low pressure system entered northwestern Kansas on the 6th and quickly moved east. There was a steep pressure rise as the low was leaving the area through the 7th. This sharp change in pressure caused winds to gust up to 72 MPH at Goodland. These winds kicked up blowing dust, creating brownout conditions and causing vehicle accidents.
