After widespread severe thunderstorms on the evening of the 31st, additional thunderstorms developed early in the morning on the first. This activity eventually dissipated by mid-morning but a decaying rain shower was able to produce a severe wind gust near Floydada (Floyd County). A Texas Tech University West Texas mesonet site near Floydada gusted to 66 mph from 0919 CST through 0920 CST.
