A personal weather station site in Aho recorded a wind gust of 68 mph. Additionally, an Advance Weather Observing System (AWOS) at the Watauga Medical Center in Boone recorded wind gust of 59 mph. No wind damage was reported.

Wider weather episode

A cold front crossed the area the night of April 11, 2024 into the morning of April 12, 2024. Behind this front, northwest winds increased in speed with gusts between 59 and 68 miles per hour at some of the highest elevations of the mountains of Northwest North Carolina.
