Blizzard conditions developed during the evening hours of April 2nd at Nome (PAOM) and after midnight on April 3rd at Golovin (PAGL). Wind gusts to 47 mph were reported at Nome and to 49 mph at Golovin. These winds were accompanied by visibility in blowing snow of less than a quarter of a mile.
Wider weather episode
A fast-moving Bering front pushed across the West Coast, and produced widespread snow, blizzard conditions, and gale force winds from the Yukon Delta north to Norton Sound.
