A photo on Twitter showed a measured golf ball sized hailstone.

Discrete thunderstorms developed in the late morning of May 24th in the free warm sector ahead of an approaching cold front. Portions of south central Illinois received multiple rounds of thunderstorms as they kept redeveloping behind ongoing convection. Overall, these areas received large hail, damaging winds, and over 8 inches of rain in some locations.
