Event narrative

An X/Twitter post reported mostly quarters to golf ball sized hail falling in Lewistown. The person found at least one hailstone measured to be 2.5 inches and photographed the measurement.

Wider weather episode

Severe thunderstorms developed in the afternoon of June 13th ahead of an approaching cold front. Supercells initially produced large hail in northeast Missouri before transitioning into mostly a wind threat as they neared the Mississippi River. Further south, semi-discrete convection produced damaging winds in Boone County later that evening.
