Blizzard conditions developed during the afternoon hours of May 14th at Savoonga (PASA). Wind gusts to 68 mph were reported, accompanied by visibility in blowing snow of less than a quarter of a mile.

The wider storm

A strong Bering front pushed across the West Coast and produced widespread snow, blizzard conditions, and strong winds from St Lawrence Island, through the Bering Strait and north to the Western Arctic Coast.
