Event narrative

Blizzard conditions developed during the early morning hours of May 15th at Point Hope (PAPO). Wind gusts to 41 mph were reported, accompanied by visibility in blowing snow of less than a quarter of a mile.

Wider weather episode

A strong Bering front pushed across the West Coast and produced widespread snow, blizzard conditions, and strong winds from St Lawrence Island, through the Bering Strait and north to the Western Arctic Coast.
