Event narrative

Palau was abnormally dry (D0) at the start of April and eventually improved to no drought or dryness on April 23rd due to increasing showers activity. Palau was placed under Stage 1 of the National Drought Action Plan back on March 26th, encouraging water conservation, and this was continued for the entire month of April as water levels had yet to recover and maintain above the 85% threshold.

Wider weather episode

Drought impacts persisted across Yap State, the Marianas, and the Northern Marshall Islands as the dry season continued along with the dry phase of El Nio, especially for the islands near and north of 7N.
