A CoCoRaHS observer with his Davis westher station equipment measured a 79 mph thunderstorm wind gust.

Wider weather episode

A cold front tracking eastward across Montana generated a line of severe thunderstorms across the eastern half of the state, from late afternoon through the early nighttime hours. This line eventually moved east into North Dakota.
