Freezing temperatures affected interior sections of South Florida behind an arctic cold front which moved across the area the previous day. Low temperatures ranged from 27 degrees at Palmdale to 31 degrees at Belle Glade, South Bay and Ortona, to 32 degrees at LaBelle, Clewiston, Immokalee and Royal Palm Beach West. Unofficial observations indicated that temperatures reached the mid and upper 20s in fields near Belle Glade and elsewhere in western Palm Beach County.
Damage to crops was significant in western Palm Beach County, with an estimated $20-50 million in losses to the green bean and sweet corn crops.

A series of arctic cold fronts moved through South Florida on President's Day Weekend and produced freezing temperatures across much of South Florida on the mornings of February 17th and 19th.
