A reinforcing shot of arctic air moved into South Florida late on February 18th, with freezing temperatures recorded once again overnight into the early morning hours on February 19th. Temperatures ranged from 26 degrees at Palmdale to 31 degrees at Immokalee, Ortona, South Bay and Royal Palm Ranger Station to 32 degrees at Homestead, Moore Haven, Monroe Station, LaBelle and Chekika State Park.
Some relatively minor crop damage to green beans and squash was noted in far South Miami-Dade County, but damage estimates were less than 30 percent of crop. Overall crop damage was not as extensive as with the freeze 2 days prior in Palm Beach County.
Wider weather episode
A series of arctic cold fronts moved through South Florida on President's Day Weekend and produced freezing temperatures across much of South Florida on the mornings of February 17th and 19th.
