WYDOT mesonet station Bear Creek (WY40) along Interstate 25 measured maximum wind gust 8 miles south of Chugwater at 7:14 PM MDT on 5/6. Cheyenne Airport ASOS station (KCYS) also measured wind gusts up to 65 mph during this period.

Wider weather episode

Late season system initially brought mountain snowfall to southeast Wyoming before an extended period of widespread strong winds gusting over 70 mph along the Laramie Range foothills.
