Event narrative

The mesonet station PTBM6 Petit Bois measured a thunderstorm wind gust of 44 mph or 38 knots.

Wider weather episode

A stalled frontal boundary draped across the deep south from Texas to Louisiana began to move southward as a cold front. This happened in response to an upper system moving through the Mississippi Valley on April 20th. Although instability was quite weak, there was enough buoyancy in place in combination with lift provided by the cold front to support a few severe thunderstorms over local coastal waters.
