Event narrative

The Sites Fire started on June 17th, 2024 in the afternoon and spread rapidly, especially within the first 24 hours due to strong and gusty northerly winds and low relative humidity. Relative humidity fell to the single digits on June 17th, and remained very dry through the 18th. The fire grew rapidly during these 2 days through grass and brush. Minimal growth was observed afterwards. The fire cause was under investigation, and was 100% contained on June 28th, with a final size of 19,195 acres.
