Event narrative

A peak wind gust of 64 MPH was measured by the automated weather station at the Grand Junction Regional Airport. Light rain fell at the time of observation with distant lightning to the northwest.

Wider weather episode

Overnight convection and left over outflow boundaries helped spark widespread to numerous showers and thunderstorms across much of eastern Utah and western Colorado as a trough of low pressure tracked through the region. One particular thunderstorm to the northwest generated outflow winds above 58 mph across Mesa County.
