Thunderstorm winds blew down at least seven trees across the county in a swath beginning from near Westfield and ending near Pine Hall.

Wider weather episode

A hot and humid air mass combined with a weak upper level disturbance helped to spark a line of severe thunderstorms during the afternoon of Independence Day that crossed Stokes and Surry counties. This line of storms caused notable wind damage as several trees and power lines were blown down.
