Thunderstorm winds destroyed two barns and blew down several trees near the intersection of Brown Mountain Road and King Road.

A hot and humid air mass combined with a lee trough helped to spark scattered showers and thunderstorms across Stokes and Surry counties. Thunderstorm winds caused considerable wind damage with several trees and power lines blown down, and the winds also destroyed two barns in Stokes County.
