The wider storm

A strong cold front combined with an upper level disturbance during the afternoon and evening hours of July 22nd. Cold air aloft combined with warm and humid air at the surface allowed for scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms to develop across the Mid Atlantic. Some storms became severe, downing trees and power lines and producing large hail across portions of the Shenandoah Valley.
