A weak upper wave disturbance move across the region during the afternoon hours. Afternoon heating coupled with modest dew points resulted in building instability with steep lapse rates. This environment caused a few severe thunderstorms to develop southern Virginia which produced large hail in Pittsylvania County and Danville.
