A business on Denny Road reported hail slightly larger than the size of a quarter.
Wider weather episode
A weak upper level disturbance moved across the region during the afternoon hours. Afternoon heating coupled with modest dew points resulted in building instability with steep lapse rates. Storms developed across the North Carolina Foothills and produced areas of wind damage and large hail.
