Wider weather episode

As of 0Z on May 8, a cold front was approaching Kentucky from the north and west. This front this proceeded to stall during the day and into the night. This placed all of Kentucky in a warm, moist, and unstable airmass, promoting showers and thunderstorms from morning through evening. The first round occurred during the morning, mainly affecting the southern portion of the state. As the day wore on, coverage increased across the entire state. Despite the numerous thunderstorms, damage later in the evening also was confined to the southwestern counties in the NWS Jackson, KY domain. Multiple trees and powerlines were felled across Wayne, Whitley, and Laurel counties.
