Quarter sized hail covering the ground on Mitchells Crossing Road was reported through social media.
Wider weather episode
Isolated storms developed in the afternoon hours, and were mainly terrain driven from afternoon heating and strong destabilization. Very little upper level support helped to limit the coverage of severe storms. Steep lapse rates and low freezing levels resulted in storms producing large hail and localized damaging winds.
