Event narrative

Wind gusts across the zone ranged from 50 mph to near 70 mph. The peak gust was to 68 mph and occurred at KEGE AWOS at the Eagle County Regional Airport during the early afternoon on the 25th. This was the only gust above 58 mph. The recorded gusts were clustered in time, all occurring within about an hour and a half of each other, likely reflecting the period of passage of the cold front.

Wider weather episode

As yet another strong Pacific trough approached eastern Utah and western Colorado with a cold front in tow, strong and gusty southwest winds broke out across the region. The majority of these gusts remained below highlight criteria, but a few locations gusts above thresholds did occur.
