A 24 hour rain total of 4.8 inches. 3.7 inches fell between 730am and 630pm on May 2. Another 1.1 inches fell after 630p through 10p. Many creeks out of their banks.

Wider weather episode

An embedded shortwave within a larger upper level low swung across the area, bringing showers and thunderstorms to southern Iowa through much of the day. Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms across the area brought 3-4 inches of rain to the area with isolated pockets of over 6 inches of rain reported.
