Drought — Adams, Wisconsin

2024-05-01 to 2024-05-21 · Adams, Wisconsin

Event narrative

Above normal total monthly precipitation near 10 inches inches resulted in reduction of severe (D2) to moderate (D1) drought in Adams County through May.

Wider weather episode

Long standing abnormally dry conditions resulted in severe (D2) to extreme (D3) drought affecting counties from southwest into central Wisconsin from original issuance in June 2023 to the onset of May 2024. A steady wetting pattern over the winter months into spring slowly alleviated severe (D2) drought across portions of southwest and central Wisconsin through April. Monthly rainfall in May finished 2 to 4 inches above normal, reducing all remaining severe (D2) drought to moderate (D1) through the middle of May and ending the drought by month's end.
