Event narrative

Moderate to heavy rainfall caused rapid river rises on Chester Creek, reaching minor flood levels. Flooding along the bicycle trails as well as several roads reporting flooding. Chester Creek at Arctic Blvd (CHRA2) would crest at 4.76 ft which was above flood stage.

Wider weather episode

An extended period of moderate to heavy rainfall moved in with a deep moisture tap surging north around a deep upper level low drifting over Southwest. This moisture surge caused minor flooding on streams in Anchorage as well as widespread flooding of roadways with impacts to transportation.
