Event narrative

Heavy rain caused widespread impacts to transportation from ponded water and cars hydroplaning. Rain was intense enough to overwhelm storm drains and cause widespread street flooding. One NWS employee reported significant ponding and cars hydroplaning between Tudor and Abbot on Lake Otis Pkwy.

Wider weather episode

An extended period of moderate to heavy rainfall moved in with a deep moisture tap surging north around a deep upper level low drifting over Southwest. This moisture surge caused minor flooding on streams in Anchorage as well as widespread flooding of roadways with impacts to transportation.
