The Yorktown Coast Guard Training Center mesonet measured a gust to 35 knots (40 miles per hour).

Wider weather episode

A weak surface low moved across the area from western Virginia to southeastern Virginia during the afternoon of May 6. This surface low allowed for widespread convection moving across the York River. Gusty winds were observed with some of these storms.
