Mesonet NOS Station Pilot Town measured a peak gust of 46 mph or 40 knots from thunderstorm winds.

Wider weather episode

Strong thunderstorms triggered by the progressive flow aloft initiated off the coast of Louisiana during the early morning hours. One particular storm produced a strong wind gust near the mouth of the Mississippi River. This activity continued for a few more hours before the marine instability decreased during the late morning.
