The Horse Gulch fire developed the afternoon of July 9 and quickly spread eastward on the 10th and 11th due to windy conditions. As of July 26, the fire was declared 100% contained.

Wider weather episode

A long stretch of hot and dry conditions transitioned much of the Northern Rockies into fire weather season by mid-July. This episode contains notable fires in the CWA that began early-mid July.
