The NERRS site on the south end of Sapelo Island measured a 51 knot (59 mph) wind gust.

Wider weather episode

Clusters of thunderstorms developed across southeast Georgia during the afternoon hours and steadily tracked to the southeast toward the coast. These storms produced a few reports of large hail and damaging wind gusts.
