Event narrative

First responders reported a tree struck by lightning, injuring three people nearby. The EMS crew treated two people who were transported to area hospitals for further evaluation. The third person refused treatment. This took place at the TPC River Highlands golf course during a PGA Tour event.

Wider weather episode

Thunderstorms fired up along a slow moving frontal boundary in an environment with 2000+ J/kg of SBCAPE and weak shear. Some storms became strong to severe and produced damaging wind gusts and large hail over southern CT.
