A multi-day stretch of hot and humid conditions began on June 18, 2024 and continued through June 20, 2024 across western Massachusetts. Heat index (or feels like temperatures) reached between 95 and 101 degrees across the region each day. Due to the anticipated impacts of the dangerous heat, cooling centers were opened throughout Berkshire County and local fire departments placed misting fans on street corners in the town of Pittsfield in order to provide relief and mitigate heat-related illness.
