Event narrative

Thunderstorm wind gust recorded at mesonet station MC112 MDOT site near Acme.

Wider weather episode

A potent cold front approached the region during the afternoon/evening of the 29th. This resulted in the development of a line of scattered thunderstorms over northern Michigan during the afternoon into evening hours. One stronger storm at the southern end of the line periodically took on supercell tendencies as it crossed over Traverse City and tracked along M-72 through Kalkaska and Grayling. This resulted in up to dime size hail and wind damage near Williamsburg. Storms continued to produce some gusty winds across northeast Lower Michigan into Lake Huron.
