Peak wind gust of 35 knots measured on the north end of the Albemarle Sound from a personal weather station. Report came in via WeatherFlow.

A surface trough oriented from southwest to northeast stretched across the Piedmont and into southeastern Virginia became the focus for widely scattered shower and thunderstorm activity during the afternoon and evening of July 14th. Activity initially developed in southern Virginia in the afternoon and strengthened as it tracked southeastwards into the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds during the evening hours, with some of these storms becoming strong in nature and producing damaging wind gusts.
