Weather station along Neuse River measured a wind gust of 40 knots as thunderstorms were moving through the area. Report was relayed through WeatherFlow.
Wider weather episode
Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity developed out ahead of a surface trough located along the Coastal Plain during the afternoon of July 15th. This activity tracked northeastwards across the Neuse River and into the Croatan and Roanoke Sounds with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature producing damaging wind gusts.
