Croatan Sound XCTNr buoy in the Croatan Sound measured a wind gust of 42 knots as thunderstorm was overhead. Report was relayed via WeatherFlow.

Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity developed out ahead of a surface trough located along the Coastal Plain during the afternoon of July 15th. This activity tracked northeastwards across the Neuse River and into the Croatan and Roanoke Sounds with a few of these storms becoming strong in nature producing damaging wind gusts.
