A photo was received showing an uprooted tree about 2 feet in diameter on the ground in the Village of Superior near highways 105 and 35.
Wider weather episode
An upper level trough moving across the Upper Midwest led to the development of isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon hours of the 5th. Most of the storms remained below severe limits, but one storm moving along the South Shore of Lake Superior was able to produce some marginally severe hail and damaging wind gusts as it moved through the region leading to a few reports of downed trees near Superior, Iron River, and south of Ashland.
