Record high temperatures...along with abundant moisture...contributed to afternoon instability. Thunderstorms developed across the higher terrain of the west-central highlands. An isolated storm reached severe levels across southern Piscataquis county producing damaging winds. A lightning strike in Lagrange...Penobscot county...started a structural fire. The fire significantly damaged a house and barn.
