Up to 1 inch of snow fell as low as 5700 feet in the San Diego County Mountains on January 3.

A fast moving storm system produced snow in the mountains and light rain across the coast and valleys. Several inches of snow were reported in the mountains, and thundersnow occurred in the Riverside County Mountains. Due to temperatures falling the upper 20s and the first snowfall, numerous spin outs occurred in Big Bear Lake.
