Several large trees reported down in the Brunswick and Saint Simons Island area. Time

estimated by radar. Measured gusts from observations in the area were 40-45 mph so an upper bound of 50 mph gusts was estimated for this event. The cost of damage was unknown, but it was estimated for inclusion of the event in Storm Data.

Wider weather episode

Southerly steering flow enabled both east and west coast sea breezes to push into through the course of the day over a hot and unstable airmass. Boundary collisions across the interior of the forecast area triggered late afternoon & evening strong to pulse severe storms.
