Event narrative
The southern half of the zone remained in Extreme(D3) drought while the north continued to be in Severe(D2) drought. The Cooperative Observer in Elk reported 2.96 inches of precipitation which was 1.34 inches above normal.
Wider weather episode
Areas west of the Continental Divide received above normal precipitation while areas to the east were near or below normal. A majority of the rain fell in the last week of the month which lead to no change in drought conditions across southern New Mexico.
