Event narrative

Cleveland Water Alliance Buoy located five-miles northwest of Marblehead recorded a peak convective wind gust of 40 mph from passing thunderstorms.

Wider weather episode

A warm front swept northeastward across Lake Erie, from the western basin toward the eastern end of the lake, during the early afternoon through early evening of the 5th. A line of multicell thunderstorms along the warm front persisted generally eastward across Lake Erie and generated occasional gale-force peak convective wind gusts along the southern lakeshore. These storms occurred in an environment comprised of moderate MUCAPE and effective bulk shear, respectively, and weak to moderate DCAPE.
