Event narrative

A line of thunderstorms moving offshore produced damaging wind gusts while approaching the coast of Hancock county bringing down trees and power lines. The line produced gusts approaching 50 mph ( 43 knots ) while moving offshore along the coast. A wind gust of 46 mph ( 40 knots ) was reported at a buoy near Bar Harbor. A 46 mph ( 40 knot ) gust was also reported at Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park...with a 48 mph ( 42 knot ) gust reported at Winter Harbor.

A line of thunderstorms moved offshore along the Hancock county coast during the late afternoon and evening of the 20th. The line of thunderstorms produced damaging wind gusts estimated up to 60 mph while approaching the coast. The winds brought down trees and power lines at several locations near the coast including Sorrento...Gouldsboro...Ellsworth and the Cranberry Isles. Wind gusts approaching 50 mph ( 43 knots ) occurred at several locations along the coast. A wind gust of 46 mph ( 40 knots ) was reported at buoy near Bar Harbor. A 46 mph ( 40 knot ) gust was reported at Cadillac Mountain on Mount Desert Island in Acadia National Park...with a 48 mph ( 42 knot ) gust reported at Winter Harbor.
