Hot temperatures about 4 to 7 degrees above normal were experienced in western Pima County on June 29, causing the Major Heat Risk category to be reached. Ajo had a high of 109 degrees on June 29. The Pima County Medical Examiner confirmed that heat was the primary factor in the death of one individual found in the desert near Ajo.
