Event narrative

High pressure built over the southern part of the country allowing temperatures to climb above normal. In combination with high relative humidity heat indices rose to 115 degrees and higher. The heat index in New Braunfels reached 120, LaGrange hit 119, and the Randolph AFB Auxiliary Field in Seguin 118. Several other locations topped out at 117.
