Wider weather episode
While a cold front was slowly approaching the state from the NW on the day of June 29, a secondary boundary set up to the southeast, spanning across southcentral to northeast Kentucky. Along this boundary storms began to fire in the afternoon, creating a broken line. While most of the storms were strong but not severe, one storm in particular out-performed the rest in eastern Kentucky, resulting in both a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and Flash Flood Warning for Bath, Fleming, and Rowan counties in the northern portion of the JKL CWA. Fleming County dispatch received reports of several downed trees as the storm rolled through, all concentrated near the town of Tilton.
